We're super pleased to feature another star member of the x+why team, Katy-May Parker is Community Host at 100 Embankment, our site in Greater Manchester. When she's not busy brightening the days of every guest who enters the building, Katy-May is enthusiastically learning the ropes of community events and has a tremendous account to follow on LinkedIn for work and life inspiration.

First off, who are you and what do you do? 💼

What is your 'Why'❓

My why is, and always has been, making people happy. Bringing joy to others, whether that's through making someone laugh or hosting community events gives my life purpose.

Tell us something you find helpful in your working day 🤝

Having a strong support system. Knowing that there's different people within the team with different strengths to each other and myself, who I can rely on and fall back on if I ever need to.

Shoutout time 📣 Name a company you think are doing great things

Noisy Cricket - Lauren Coulman of Noisy Cricket is an absolute gem of a human being, doing incredible work in the social impact sector. Working on issues like ethnic inequality, poverty, gender inequality and more- she's really trying to change the world. She's also a lovely, supportive human who makes everyone's day brighter.

Something you are proud of in the last year and looking forward to in the next?

I'm proud of everything I've achieved this year, but especially the events I've put on to bring our community together. I have no experience in event planning, so it's a continuous learning curve but I'm loving it! Next year, I'm looking forward to making everything bigger and better, and the potential of more office dogs :)

📚 Reading recommendation

If I'm honest, I'm not a reader, and that's okay to admit! I'll recommend one of my fave films (that is also a book) instead- The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Really moving and never gets old, no matter how many times I watch it.
